Acts of Kindness

Prophet Muhammad said, “Kindness is a mark of faith, and whoever is not kind has no faith.”

From the start of this blog i wanted to show how important kindness is and these words of our Prophet (P.B.U.H) explain to us perfectly how important kindness is and why you should be “kind”.

This is an era where we think everyone is in a rush, everyone is in a race. We all try to be better than everybody else. We want to be on the top and in doing so, we are losing one of the most important moral that humanity has had for all this time, and that is Kindness and Compassion. What saves other person from losing hope in the darkest of the times? Maybe a little act of kindness from a loved one. I ask you what is the thing that might have saved a lot of tortured souls from death in the Crimean War? That’s kindness and compassion of Florence Nightingale.

But these are the effects that Kindness has on the people around you. What if i tell you that these acts of kindness can have a profound effect on you as well. It can actually have great effect on your mental peace and state of mind. So its a win win situation.

“Kindness is that language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see”-Mark Twain

Following are some of the acts of Kindness i did today

Washed the dishes

Now i know some of us think this isn’t that much of a big deal. But let me tell you this is something that is so annoying. Just imagine for a second, you want to cook something, and the first thing you have to do is do the dishes. You had this great mood of actually cooking the best chicken you ever cooked and now this diverted your attention, turned you off didn’t it. Mostly my dad or my mom would do it but not today :D Before my dad could get to kitchen to do the dishes i actually went and washed all of em. I actually wanted it to be a surprise for my dad but he came right at the time i was on the last plate. And the look on his face, PRICELESS. I wish i could capture a picture of that moment but alas!

Made my friend laugh

Most of you would be thinking like “Meh, so what”. But i believe that smile can be a gift you can give to others. Trying to save someone from crippling depression and trying to make some moments of their day happy is also an act of Kindness and Compassion. We all face problems in our life and maybe sometimes all we need is a smile.

These were some of the acts of Kindness that i was able to do in the last 24 Hours. Maybe i could have done more. But what i’m more excited about is the impact of these little deeds of kindness. Maybe that smile i was able to give to my friend was more valuable than anything else. Maybe the moment my dad saw me do something for him gave him so much happiness and pride that i wouldn’t be able to give with all the gifts i could give to him.

Do share your acts of kindness below :)
