My #JustStart Goal

There is something that i am not really proud of, and that is procrastination. Procrastination is something that has always stopped me from completing tasks and this could have been the thing that could affect my Amal Journey as well. But as i started my journey, from week one the thing i learnt about was #JustStart, a principle of growth that Amal Academy taught us, just get started. This is something so basic and yet so fundamental in completing whatever tasks you want to complete.

i did business :D

The thing that i have worked on in my #JustStart project is to complete the “Making Successful Decisions through the Strategy, Law & Ethics Model” course from Coursera. Of course its a 12 week course and i cannot complete it in just a small amount of time, but i have set the time for 4 weeks. Yes, four weeks. But i believe in having a steady start. Sometimes when we start something we burn ourselves out and dont get to complete the task. So for completing this SMART goal, the first task i want to do is to complete Week one in 3 days. And i did that YEAAAAH.

Now the question is, why does a Pharmacy student want to do a course on making business decisions, you guys might think its irrelevant, but its not. A pharmacy is just a business, but the problem is we are not taught such things in our curriculum. All we are taught about is marketing, but that is too limited. There is still so much to learn and thus, to increase my knowledge on subject, i enrolled in this course.

Now, i enrolled this course in April, as our university sponsored for the certificates. But the fact that i could just reset my deadlines, it led me to procrastinate on this goal as well. Hence, i didnt even watch a single video, i would pop up on the main page after some weeks to reset the deadlines, but it was it, i had no motivation.

But i used the first principle of progress of Amal Academy “Amal” to get through this task this time. And it worked. I completed the first week in just three days. It wasn’t such a hard thing to do, but i wasn’t even doing this for such a long time. But now i did that, #justStart you know. I did face some challenges this time as well. I was doing other project works as well and i had Amal Academy courses to do as well. Eid was just around the corner. I could lose my motivation, but there is one thing in my life that has changed since i started my Amal journey, and that is to always keep in mind the “Amal” principle what ever i am doing. This little magic trick worked for me and i completed my mini task towards completing this SMART goal.

I have learnt from this experience that what ever i need to do in life, i just need to get started. But you have to be practical as well. And the practice of SMART goals is really helpful. I am the sort of person that just needs a little push, some motivation to do the job that needs to be done, and this beautiful and powerful Amal principle and the strategy of breaking down your goals into smart goals is all the thing that i needed. The little goals that are attainable, might look so easy and thus, you end up doing them. And completing these little goals, having these little successes, taking these little steps will eventually lead to your success.

You do not get success overnight, just as you will not fail overnight. The little things that you do will eventually lead to your bigger success.

Week one DONE
